Who’s Your Creator?

Standard

This is the debate of the century – Darwin, Scopes….on and on, there have been many who have debated the origin of the universe. Dating back to the Egyptians, Phoenician’s and Caananites, men have attributed the creation of all there is to the gods they worshipped: the sun, the moon, cows. They were at least smart enough to know that a Higher Being had to be part of the process. Then came Darwin with his nonsensical theory that men evolved. This is another example to prove what I have written about in prior posts, satan will do everything he can to mimic and blaspheme the works and word of the One, True God. Follow the above link for information about this new documentary debunking evolution.

I heard a co-worker talking the other day of how ‘people say evolution is not true, but if that’s the case then why are teens hitting puberty earlier and children so much larger.’ Really? Is there seriously a valid point there? The answer is that yes, there is indeed an evolution taking place, but only in that we, as a society, are evolving our food processing and preparation standards to allow for GMO’s and hormones that are adversely affecting our bodies. We manipulate genetics and chemicals forcing anatomical reactions as our bodies try to metabolize things we were never meant to ingest. This is NOT evolution!

There has never – EVER – been a true and documented case of a living thing evolving over the span of mankind. Just because human skeletons have been found with smaller bones, larger heads, different shapes means nothing aside from the obvious which is that someone looked different than the person who found the bones. Not only have we not evolved, we cannot create living from nothing. This is something that only God can do.

Evolutionists and atheists are only puppets in the hands of satan as he works to spread his perversion of God’s creation. Only God can speak and have sunlight cut through the vast darkness of the universe and then position the earth in just the exact proportion to this sun in order to sustain the heat and light necessary for life to continue for thousands of years. God also placed the earth in orbit to circle the sun and He added a moon so that the night would not be black and the oceans would have a current. He then doodled the stars in the heavens to shine at night as a testament of His majesty. He created animals. Every animal known and unknown to man. Flying, walking, swimming and now extinct animals were all created by Him. Finally, He topped all of His other creations, and formed man. This is a dumb-downed version of creation, but think about each item that God created and then ponder how everything is affected by the most minute effects of each aspect of life. From the cause and effect of the combination of wind and light to the oxygen created by plants, all of these results prove the genius and mastermind behind what could never happen randomly. I am not even qualified to describe how a human is formed. Two cells – two tiny cells converge and multiply in just the right combination to form a baby. There is so much detail and complexity involved in this process that I could never imagine trying to duplicate it. Our finite minds cannot come close to understanding the infinite power and intelligence of God. He is far beyond our understanding.

Satan will continue to try and blind people to keep them from the truth but I believe that God is allowing so much to be revealed to this generation in order to awaken the consciousness of everyone. He loves all people so much!

2 Peter 3:5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Evidence of the flood from Noah’s time keeps surfacing as do Hebrew antiquities that support writings in the Old Testament. Daily revelations and discoveries are showing up in the news. God is making sure that everyone knows who He is and what He has done. There will be no excuse, as He wants no one to perish and is giving everyone an opportunity to turn to Him. There is one Creator, one God and that is the Lord God Almighty who made a way to Him through Jesus. Don’t miss this opportunity. He is knocking on your heart’s door and revealing Himself to you!

Jesus Freaks

Standard

Jesus freak
Sometimes it feels good to be labeled. Top company producer, Olympic gold medalist and mom are all some of the labels that bring instant pride and satisfaction. Every now and again everyone likes to be recognized and appreciated. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with rewarding good work or efforts. We like those kind of labels. Some labels, however, cause instant irritation or anger such as fat girl, freckle face, shorty….This is because we associate our identity with labels either self-imposed or bestowed by others. Other labels that identify race or color are not welcome in conversation because they are symbols of hatred and isolation. What about being called a Jesus Freak though? Would it embarrass you or make you feel politically incorrect? What actions would it take to make you a Jesus Freak? Would you be considered for one if you are just a nice person or maybe someone who doesn’t hang out with the partiers of the crowd? Do you have to go to church for someone to think you are a Jesus Freak? What if, are you ready for this, you read your Bible in public? Certainly that qualifies you for that title. Is this a label you would wear in secret or would you wear it proudly?

I have often wondered, especially when I see recent headlines, if I had been born in Communist China or one of the countries controlled by Islam, would it be easier for me to be a Christian? Sometimes it’s easier to choose a side when the line is clearly drawn and the choices are black and white. I am so thankful to be an American. There is so much opportunity and freedom here that we could never experience anywhere else in the world. I am proud of my citizenship and the men who gave me the right to go where I want, live how I please and worship freely, but sometimes I think that maybe I might be a stronger Christian if I had to follow Christ under the chance of persecution. The ability to read our Bibles and sing songs of praise to our Creator is so easy, maybe too easy, that we take it for granted. Are we wasting our opportunity to learn about Jesus and know Him in a way that so many across the world would love to have? How many Christians in America have to meet in secret for Bible study so that they are not arrested or tortured? How many Christians here have to smuggle pieces of the Bible across town so that little by little they can build a Bible. Have you heard about anyone in America lately being gunned down for their beliefs? No? Neither have I but I bet you have heard of Saeed Abedini, the 33 year old Idaho pastor who is being held in an Iranian jail for his Christian faith. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/05/22/prayers-from-prison-american-pastor-held-in-iran-releases-letter/
Countries around the world from Pakistan to China to India to Russia make it a capital offense to worship Christ yet those Christians are on fire for Him. We have it so easy and we hide in the country. What’s wrong with that picture?

If you have a chance, pick up the book Jesus Freaks http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Freaks-Stories-Those-Ultimate/dp/1577780728 It is the compilation of stories of a new generation of Christians who live what they believe, stories of persecution – past and present. Read this book and then decide. Decide Who you will serve because by not taking sides, you have decided. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile,” Romans 1:16.

There is Coming a Day

15 No longer will I make you hear the taunts of the nations, and no longer will you suffer the scorn of the peoples or cause your nation to fall, declares the Sovereign Lord.’” Ezekiel 36:15 (Bible Gateway).

There is soon coming a day when the ultimate Champion of the children of Israel says no more! The IRS puppets have had their fun. I surely hope it was worth it to them, because God is a jealous God. He is jealous, much in the same way that you would be if someone taunted or hurt a family member. Nothing makes me more angry than to see someone hurt my children. I could easily incinerate bullies with my eyes if their mean actions are directed at one of my own. Do you not think that your Heavenly Father feels the same towards those that hurt His children? Let me educate you. In the Book of Genesis, Chapter 12, Verse 1-3, we see what God says about His response to how people treat Israel:

“And I will bless those that bless you and curse the one who curses you. And in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

Even though this verse and promise is from the Old Testament, there is no time limit on God’s proclamation. There is no statute of limitations. When God makes a promise it is a forever promise. He doesn’t give and take back. So, what does the Bible say that God does to those who anger Him? Galatians 6:7 (New International Version (NIV))

7 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”

Yes, there is coming a day. God will not sit by and watch His children suffer and continue to be the target of bullies. Watch out, there is surely coming a day!

But, I Wanna Get Smooshed

Standard

Those are the words that the little boy, who looked to be about 4, said to his mother as they exited the grocery store in front of me.  She was trying to get him to hold her hand and when asked why, she replied, “Because, I don’t want you to get smooshed.”  The little boy was quite the bundle of energy.  I had been watching him for awhile as a I waited in line.  He quickly moved from one thing to another and another and was actually very entertaining.  In fact, he had accumulated his own little audience as the other shoppers chuckled in unison as he raced around like he was running an obstacle course.  His response to his mother as she finally took his hand, “but I wanna get smooched,” sounded exactly like something this little energizer bunny would say.  His mother, who had now been elevated to near sainthood in my eyes, looked down and patiently replied, “I don’t want you to get smooshed.  I love you and I would be really sad.”

How many times have we quickly moved through our day, flitting from one event to another?  How many decisions do we make in our day?  All the while, each seemingly innocent choice either solely or compounded with others, has a lasting impact on our future.  My days go by so fast that I can’t remember most of it unless I realize that I have forgotten something or find that I have royally messed up a situation.  Then I have to take the time to review my day, like a slow motion movie reel, to revisit each event until I get to the decision that I should not have made.  At that point, it’s too late to go back in time.  It’s moments like this, that make me wish I had someone looking out for me so that I don’t get smooshed.

Oh, wait, I do!  Maybe that’s why I Thessolonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.”  God doesn’t want us to walk around like zombies, chanting prayers.  No, that is not what this verse is telling us.  God wants us to be so close to Him that we are always communicating with Him through the Holy Spirit.  Only then will we feel his promptings to do or not do something, go or not go somewhere, say or not something.  When we have an attitude of prayer, we will be able to hear His voice just as loudly as the mother who did not want her son to get smooshed.  You will be able to hear Him say, “Don’t go there.  I love you too much to allow you to get smooshed.”ImagePhoto Credit: http://www.tillhecomes.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Pray-Without-Ceasing.jpg

Pray for Me

Standard

Someone is praying for me.  Lifting me high up to Your Throne. Down on their knees, interceding for my needs.  There is somebody praying for me.

When my eyes can’t see, and my faith won’t believe, there is somebody praying for me.

There are times when I feel so alone, but I feel Your warmth beside me anyway.  That’s when it’s clear that I don’t need to fear.  There is somebody praying for me.

When my eyes can’t see, and my faith won’t believe, there is somebody praying for me.

Thank you, Jesus, there is somebody praying for me!

Speak No Evil…..See No Evil….Hear No Evil….

Standard

imageSome of my friends, and sadly, family think that opinions should be kept to oneself, but I have a different opinion.  I believe that God gives us wisdom to discern right from wrong and it is not only ok to share truth about uncovered wrong, it is also our responsibility to do so.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 tells us that people want to believe in something.  Right or wrong, people will form opinions and listen to the one person who supports that opinion. “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”  It does not take much effort to see some of the crazy and bizarre things that people support.  Turn on the television, open a magazine or boot up the internet and you are confronted with opinions presented as fact.  There is one popular commercial that presents a gullible woman (stereotype) who has a date with someone claiming to be French but whose obvious connection to France comes only in the form of a french fry.  Her statement to support her belief in her date’s nationality is that she read it on the internet and everything on the internet is true.  The commercial is a strong comedic but ironic statement that defines our culture.  We tend to believe without proof.

I’ve always been the polar opposite of that statement.  In fact, I have often been told that I should have been born in Missouri, the Show Me State.  I want to know the truth and see the supporting evidence….and so should you!  As a Christian, it is our responsibility to be God’s voice in the world to share His truth.  Part of this action, is to stand in the gap and be the watchmen on the wall who cry out to those around us and warn against obvious wrong.  It’s much easier to be like the little monkeys in the picture above and pretend that we don’t see or hear what is happening in our country and world.  It’s certainly more comfortable to fly under the radar and remain a bystander.  Would anyone willingly choose to be the “freak” in the office who has strong political and religious views?  Would anyone want to be avoided and not included in social gatherings because it’s known where they stand?  Of course not.  People want to be included.  It is not easy to stand in the gap and be vocal because undoubtably there is a risk of being ridiculed or labeled a fanatic.  There are not many who would choose put themselves out there like that as is evidenced by the lack of truth in the media.  There is a preponderance of lies, half-truths and dribble that is being broadcast and it is being met with a very small offset of moral and Godly wisdom.

Where are the men and women who know right from wrong?  Are their heads in the sand or are they like the monkeys who simply just want to pretend that they do not know.  I find it amazing that friends will post pictures of cartoons or statements about their trip to the grocery store on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram but they absolutely will not give an opinion about the atrocities that are happening around us.  The most vocal people, by far, are the atheists, homosexuals and progressive leftists who are adamant about their false truths.  We, those of us who are Christians…..We, those of us who know the TRUTH, the LIGHT and the WAY……we are silent.  It’s time to wake up.  It’s time to rise up.  It’s time to speak up.  Take the tape off of your mouth, the blinders off of your eyes and the cotton out of your ears.  Now is the time, before it’s too late.

James 4:17, “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”  Enough said!

Full Access

Standard

I have a key card or an “access card” that allows me to enter my office building, parking lot and restricted areas.  Without this card I am unable to access these sites.  I become  a person non-grata without my access card.  I can knock as long and and as loud as I want and I will not be able to enter.  I can sit at the gate to the parking lot but never gain access without my access card.  If I forget to bring it with me at any point, I am out of luck.

Aren’t you glad that we have Open Access to our Heavenly Father any time and all the time!  We are privileged to be able to go into His presence for any reason and He encourages us to do so.  We do not need a special key card that we have to carry and present in order to gain His attention.  We have only to believe that His son, Jesus, paid the price required as the penalty for sins by taking our place and dying on the cross.  This gift did not end there or Jesus would have been just like any other person on earth who died and was buried.  Three days after His death, He rose from the grave forever canceling the death penalty required for our sin.  This gave us Open Access as well.

Ephesians 3:12 “In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” ~NIV

In the beginning of the Israelite history, as documented both in the Old and New Testament, only the High Priest would be allowed to speak with God directly in His presence.  The priest could enter into the Holy of Holies inside the Temple in Jerusalem where God resided inside the Ark of the Covenant.  He could do this only once a year.  The Holy of Holies area was separated from the rest of the temple by a veil (curtain) that hung from a very high ceiling. At the exact moment of Jesus’ death on the cross that very veil was ripped in half from the top to the bottom (no human hand could reach that high) thereby exposing God’s presence to all mankind.

Hebrews 10:19-23  “And so, dear brothers and sisters,we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. “

God gave us this Open Access card to allow us full access to Him.  I want to take every opportunity to use this access and communicate with Him.  Make every moment count in your life for eternity’s sake and get to know the God who made you, who loves you, and whom you will see the minute you awake from death into life and see Him face to face.
Psalms 27:4 “One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.” ~ KJV

Opportunity

Standard

How many opportunities come your way that you miss out on either because you don’t recognize them until it’s too late or because you are too scared to seize the moment?  I was thinking about this very question today.  There have been many times that I have prayed, and prayed for God to show me what He wanted me to do only to hear silence – or so I thought.  Maybe there were answers that I missed because I wasn’t “in tune” with the quiet voice of God.  (I Kings 19:12, “After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” (NIV))  I was waiting for the earthquake and fire to announce my direction and guidance.  I would have settled for a personal suggestion in an audible voice.  I did not receive any of these revelations or occurences, and so I wallowed in indecision and uncertainty.

I have recently been made aware that the more time I spend in quiet reflection and devotion with God, the clearer His answers become.  There is no mysterious secret to hearing His voice because He speaks to you in the quiet of your heart.  All of the good plans He has for you become like neon signs to your soul as you become close to Him.

Tune in to His voice today!

Laundry Day

Standard

I have two teenage boys.  Combine that with white clothes, and…..yup, you get the picture.  Dirty clothes, all the time!  I am convinced that even if the t-shirts or socks stay clean and white, the wearer feels it necessary to soil the item, just on principle.  Sometimes, I can’t even identify the crud and muck that is attached to their clothes.   I’m pretty sure that I don’t want to know what food has been ground in and how long it has been attached to the clothes that I am examining.  I am most certain that I don’t want to inhale the aroma that I refer to as “the stink” as it permeates the house.  A mother’s love truly knows no limits, although my limits frequently come close to being breached.  This morning was no exception.  I had laundry baskets lined up and ready to start sorting this morning.  Before I could even get to my older son’s pile, the overwhelming stench of ripe mildew almost drew tears from my eyes.  Yuck!

I know that I have told my son that wet swimming trunks and clothes need to be hung to dry before placing with other clothes.  He studied the process of mold creation in science.  This is not a new concept to my child.  It is amazing to see the disconnect between cleanliness and my son.  I will most certainly deal with him later, but for the moment I bit my tongue and dug into the dirt.  A little pre-wash, some laundry soap, a generous dousing of Clorox and 45 minutes later……white clothes!  Almost as good as new but a slight dinge still remained.  Sometimes I have been able to get close to the original white, but the creative stains that have found their way into my laundry are just too strong to completely disappear.

This process got me thinking.  I am that dirty shirt.  Maybe I don’t carry the stains on the outside where they are visible to the human eye, but without a doubt, I am a filthy rag.  “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.”  Isaiah 64:6 (NIV).  Obviously, I am speaking metaphorically, but there is never a day that I have not piled dirt into my life.  Sometimes the dirt may take the form of  impatience with other drivers (this is a definite occurrence on a daily basis), other times I may lose my temper (this one, too).  Regardless of the enormity or smallness of my uncleanliness, dirt is dirt.  In order to become clean, I need to be washed.  Just as my laundry cannot wash itself, neither can I clean myself.  I am not capable.  Only One who is perfectly clean can perform this action.  Psalm 51:7 says, wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”  (NIV) Even the strongest, industrial strength Clorox cannot make something whiter than snow.

When I believed in the death and resurrection of  Jesus as the penalty for my sins, He washed me perfectly clean.  This is a promise I can claim for all eternity!  I am His and He is mine.  How beautiful and precious is this gift of clean clothes!  I am so thankful that I am washed by His blood and the stains, stink and dirt is forever gone and completely forgotten!

“I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me,Jeremiah 33:8 (NIV).

“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for My own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”  Isaiah 43:25 (NIV)
